Killer Mike ft Ludacris & Game - Still My N*gga

Roll up your windows, light an L and sit back and enjoy the smoothness.  ATL’s Killer Mike and Ludacris team up with Cali-native Game to give you something to vibe with.  All three hold there own over this laidback instrumental.  This collaboration kind of caught me off guard, but I definitely recommend checking this out.

Chapter 1: And so it begins

Warning: this piece may contain spoilers.
Note: this piece is not a walkthrough, just a light description of my experience. For a decent walkthrough, with information on items, spells, hints and how to defeat monsters, go to http://faqs.ign.com/articles/377/377230p1.html. It’s a detailed walkthrough with just about everything you need to know.

When starting the game, let the intro play(or go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iv0YY5IIkU).  When you actually begin this game, the main character will talk about it to the guy on the boat (Allis Ham). He will also ask you to defeat a brigand. Through this intro, some of the gameplay features are shown. For example, sometimes the characters will move when they talk. When you skip a conversation however, it might be that they still keep moving in silence. Looks a bit weird but hey. Now the graphics of this game are not that impressive (not even for the year 2000) but there are plenty of surprising details that give Soulbringer a nice edge (like footsteps in the snow). Also the sound is (in my opinion) well worked out.  For an examplesong: go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ckAXHKqVUk&feature=related . Madrigal doesn’t really look like a city (I think there are about 15 people living there in total, even less in the beginning) but the walls are nice, and the shops seem handy (allthough you can’t enter those in the beginning, you have to defeat brigands first and spend the night at Uncle Andrus’ place). I used a knife against all the brigands, and was happy to find my first bit of armour, even though it’s just a dirty, bloodstained piece of cloth. There are brigands near Andrus as well, but I didn’t defeat all of those – I killed the “normal” ones armed with a knife, but the bloke with the club but up too mean of a fight. You’ll learn magic from your Uncle, but I haven’t used that against brigands much. The first item I bought was a pickaxe- and truth be told that pickaxe will be your best weapon for a while, because on some creatures it’s more effective than even swords or a mace, and it will kill brigands with one or two hits, depending on the state of the weapon and your stats.

It’s always important to have your weapons and armour repaired. To repair your armour, you’ll actually have to take it off – seems timerobbing but I think it’s a nice detail. Also, when you switch weapons, your character will take time to put his current weapon away and get out a new one- also a bit bothersome , especially during battle, but a nice detail too (even though longswords and spears will be pulled out of your backpack, it looks odd but hey, the main character is a mage after all).

The first couple of quests are pretty easy, sometimes you’ll just get items without having to do anything other than listen. In the next post I’ll talk about some of the first more bothersome quests, and I’ll add some more thoughts I have on the game.  See you then!

Special thanks to http://www.youtube.com/user/shad0wboss for the Soulbringer-songs.

Homework = Evil!!

Urgh…

School takes up way too much time for me to do anything and I barely do homework…! I feel sorry for those who spend hours on homework alone… For your own good, please go out and have some fun!

Anyway, what I hate most is that I really want to release Yashio and Mikumo chapter 1 but everything always gets in the way so I’m going to do extra hours and less sleep so I can get it released soon… hopefully…

Oh, Inuyasha has totally taken over me again! 8D

It was the first ever official anime that I ever watched and now I want to go back and finish up my collection that I’ve left since ages ago~! And expect heaps of fan art on Inuyasha and Kagome ;D I’ve supported them for as long as I can remember and I’d really wish they’d do something a little more intimate… D:<

Nintendo Wii: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron New Play Control Coming?

UK video gaming emporium, Game, has posted a listing on their website for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Whilst it’s unlikely that the Factor 5, the developer, would produce a new title in the series, it’s highly plausible that Nintendo may release the original version of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron with added Wii controls as part of its New Play Control series.

At least one gate, please!

Marco Sturm is because in all honesty: So really, he says he has not understood the mode. This is not surprising, the mode of the Olympic Games hockey tournament, this is also – well, what? Complicated? Strange? Nonsensical? He is probably all that complicated, strange and absurd. In any case, is the mode – and as it stands now, the only mode – the reason for Marco Sturm and his colleagues at the German team for darkfall gold online, which is why they could not even advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The mode works like this: Twelve teams take off in three groups with four teams a simple preliminary round. Thereafter, the three group winners qualify directly for the quarter-finals, the rest will be consolidated into one big group and sorted by a ranking according to points and gates. The best of this ranking is also directly in the quarterfinals, the rest takes out a qualifying match, with the best against the worst plays, and so on.

Nerd Rage

Yesterday Grendal and I went out and picked up our copy of Alien v. Predator.  I laid claim to the Alien storyline and he, in turn, demanded the Predator.  I said I was interested in playing the human which shocked him since I was having a hard time getting into it.  I agreed to let him have the first play through though.  I zipped through the Alien’s story and, though it was short, I enjoyed it.  After that I jumped on to LIVE to do some Ranked Matches but I found myself rather annoyed; people were constantly quitting in the middle of matches.  Now, a friend of mine commented that it was just a LIVE thing, but I’ve played a whole lot of Halo 3 multiplayer and there is little to no midgame quitting there. >:|  Seriously people, just because you’re not doing as well as you want or you feel like you’re being ganged up on, doesn’t mean you have to quit.  I played a match today that only had 5 people(including myself) and that wasn’t fun but I stuck through it.  Sure I ended up being last but it seemed like these people also had nothing better to do……and I was the lowest ranking player.  -_-;

All in all I’m loving this game!  It may not be the shinning pinnacle of awesomeness that games try to achieve, but it has a niche that I love!  I’d recommend that everyone either rent it or borrow it from a friend!  So yeah, 8/10!   If I can get my little Friday afternoon gaming guys to get copies we might play AvP rather than Halo: ODST….once we get our last damned achievement.

And no more NERD RAGE.

Allods Online, continues...

In the mean time while I was studying Allods Online, lets see some vids regarding this new Open Beta MMORPG :)

The Giblings race are triplets tiny creatures, quite interesting though.

This is how a warrior PVP in Russian server.

Allods Online is a 3D MMORPG with some sci-fi elements, its Free To Play for life ! Featuring six races, eight playable classes and a whopping 28 different archetypes. Although it may have some similarities to World of Warcraft & Warhammer Online, but Allods do have its own uniqueness i.e. the Astral Ship battles in space against either NPCs or other players. The game’s graphic and environment is absolutely gorgeous and having very detail textures.

“The game is without a doubt one of the best free to play MMORPGs currently on the market.“ MMO Hut.

CALL OF DUTY, MASIH YANG TERBAIK DI ACTIVISION

SAN FRANSISCO – Activision melaporkan pendapatan akhir tahunnya baru-baru ini. Dalam keterangan tersebut, Call of Duty: World of War masih menjadi jagoan developer game tersebut.

Far Cry 2: First Impressions

Following the futuristic Filipino battles of Crysis, the closest to photorealism in a game yet, yet with the alien technology essentially ending the game early for me, emptying it of its future war and convincing weaponry and injecting a fun, but ultimately less enjoyable alien menace, I decided to give Far Cry 2 a chance.

Stemming from the same original game, Far Cry, the team divided and most of the same team went on to make Crysis, whereas Ubisoft kept the title license and made Far Cry 2 with a separate development team. My immediate thought was that I’d much prefer Crysis, but with less body awareness than expected and the alien plot-line, I hoped that Far Cry 2 would satisfy me. With it’s African plains, apparently non-science-fiction or supernatural storyline and huge open areas the series of games are famous for, with hints of having as much visual bed-wetting (in a good way) as Crysis, the outlook is promising.

A beautifully-lit jungle with a muddy palette.

After a few hours of play, first impressions are mixed. Crysis is certainly much more polished, visually. FC2 does a decent job at rivaling Crysis in terms of graphics (the shadows and overall lighting effects are, for example, the most breathtaking I’ve seen), but with a colour palette scraped from the bottom of an old boot, FC2 simply doesn’t have the shininess and visual range of Crysis. Granted, the context would indeed limit the graphics somewhat, but there’s a muddiness that could have been polished a bit, along with some minor glitches that are just disappointing.

Great animation, despite the shoulder-clipping.

On the plus-side, the game is more freeform and provides a fantastic bodily-aware animation for every little action, from healing to opening doors to grabbing the seat in front of you when your vehicle stops suddenly. The HUD being absent from the screen for the most part, is great (especially the decision to remove any minor HUD displays such as save-notifications from screenshots), and the tangibility of the map and hammering on a jammed weapon whilst desperately using your eyes rather than relying on a magical floating radar to track your enemy bearing down on you through the jungle all combine to make a very immersive experience. Now, if only the glitches had been ironed out, this could have bumped Crysis off the podium.

The most detailed and convincing shadow system I've seen.

Checking a map whilst driving at high speeds is just as dangerous in Far Cry 2 as it is on the M25.

Enjoying Eternal Sonata

I just started playing this wonderful tribute to the nineteenth century and… I wish gor you to enjoy it as well. To fully enjoy this game, I must ask that you do so in a place where ypu can allow yourself to get spellbound by a visually appealing object/painting/sculpture. The game very much lives on the battles and stunning visuals, don’t forget that you can alter between voice language with or without subtitles if dubbing puts you off.

By the way, one of the best mediaservers I’ve come across is called “PS3 media server” and allows for streaming on both PS3 and 360. Just in case you really want to watch those .mkv files on your tv. ;-)
It fully supports a bunch of codecs, just connect both your PC and console to your network and “PS3 media server” will automatically discover your console when it’s turned on. If you stumble across any problems google is your best friend.

See you later!

Upgrade Menu

The design for this menu is already finished, now we need to take time to think on the other upgrades. Here is what we have so far. We know it isn’t complete. Its not supposed to be. We have the structure down, and as time progresses and when we get an idea, we can add it, without having to worry about redesigning it because we need more space.

I also want to say its entirely David’s fault that we got these epic graphics.

Cheers!

Samantha Swift: Mystery From Atlantis Game

You begin in Alaska, searching for a native totem that is apparently more than it seems. As soon as you find the artifact it’s taken by someone from the military, leaving you to wonder what’s so special about that little thing. The answers will come as the game progresses, but the first thing Samantha and her trusty team discover at the Museum of Secrets Lost is that they need to find the pieces for a legendary item, the Harmonic Senses of Atlantis, to combat whatever threat the totem possesses. And it possesses a lot of threat

Well-designed . Aditional modes and options. Some mini-games. Collect artifacts for the museum.

Free Games [part 1]

For those who love puzzle games…you must try this one.

Shift it’s a put-your-lazy-brain-to-work puzzle game, in which you have to cross different levels using your ability to shift.

You have to turn the area upside down in order to reach the safe door. You have a timer of course [but as the game says...timer it's a big LIE]. I don’t know if that is really true. Anyway…it’s very cool and at least you must do something that human beings do not do anymore…and that is to THINK.

I always loved puzzle games because I have to think for a solution…and no matter how many times I’m wrong…in the end I’ll pass. So folks…you can play it by click the link below.

Feeds...

There’s a few feeds that will start showing up here in this blog today thanks to Twitterfeed and PingFM. The ones that I’m adding today are Entropia Gateway – the official blog of Entropia Universe, Atlas Haven Radio’s Tweets – which is Atlas Haven Radio’s Twitter Tweets, and Satteliteguys.us’s Tweets too.

The reason that I’m adding these is that I personally like to follow stuff like this and think a lot of other folks do too if they are reading this blog. Each of these postings has a short url at the end that can take you to the original source, so no, this is not splog or copyright infringment or whatever… If these folks did not want people following their info, they would not have put together nice RSS Feeds to make this sort of stuff possible.

Atlas Haven Radio Feed Posts will be prefixed as AHR:
Entropia Gateway’s Feed Posts will be prefixed as E.Gate:
Satelliteguys Blog Feed Posts will be prefixed as S.Guys:

I’m trying to keep the prefixes short since tweets are already pretty limited in how long they can be, and the prefix only makes the tweets even shorter. Hopefully they are still long enough to be useable.

Happy reading.

Utilizing your assets

Utilizing your assets

What does this mean? Well, for me, it meant using all the software I can to achieve a desirable product. So that is FlashDevelop and Flash CS4. How could I combine these to make something useful. Well here is what I found.

  • Flash Pro CS4 – Long compile times, but easier UI so I can work with it better
  • FlashDevelop – Fast compile time, default strict typing, low end file size, because it only compiles the used library items. For some reason CS4 was doing that to me…

So what I did was make my entire game in CS4. Then I put the parts I wanted to test, to see how they would look in FlashDevelop. This allowed for a lightweight, speedy .swf which had only what I wanted in it.

My end products:

  • Flash Pro CS4 – 1.3 megs, 1.5 minute compile time
  • FlashDevelop – 180 kb, 25 second compile time

Now, those 65 seconds I am waiting for Flash Pro to compile could have been put working on my project, but no. I had to sit there waiting for it. For me, that just makes me get distracted. By moving to FlashDevelop for certain instances I have saved myself time, and made David and I really happy at such a low file size so he can do constant check ups and see what I need. (I need to mention how thankful I am toward him.)

Now, some of these figures may be incorrect had I configured some obscure option or done some sort of technique to allow Flash CS4 to perform better, but at this time, I do not have the time to dilly-dally with researching specific ways to improve that software. For this instance, FlashDevelop was the hero. Oh, and for those of you who have not heard of FlashDevelop, I might mention that it cost me $250 + tax less than my copy of Flash CS4, making it come out to a total of FREE!

So no matter how expensive or inexpensive a software, it usually has some benefits that can be utilized to some degree. You, as a developer(or maybe as a reader) need to use these to your advantage.

Cheers,

UGLabs

Sending Studs to the Glue Factory

Note: this post was written before the recent news that sexual addiction is about to become a recognised “mental illness”, which only makes what is written here more relevant.

Something that I’ve noticed recently is the growing shift in attitudes towards male sexuality – specifically to the stud/slut double standard. Ferdinand Bardamu wrote this at The Spearhead, eloquently explaining this concept:

The sexual double standard arises from the reality that getting sex is easy for women but hard for men. The reason studs are respected and sluts are derided is because being a stud requires skill, talent, and practice, while being a slut merely requires a pulse and a lack of impulse control.

Recently, however, I have been attacked for my traditional “stud-ness” by men as well as women. I am no longer a “stud”. I am now a “man-whore”.  This shift in attitudes is important for two reasons. First, it categories those that are labelled with it in the same class as female whores. It is another arrow in the quiver for feminists to have their cake and eat it too. More importantly, by making the term acceptable for men to call other men “man-whores” means that “stud-ness” is no longer something to be aspire to. Instead, studs are being attacked by beta men, who are only doing what they think women want.

Being a stud is something some beta men no want to be, less they to get labelled a “man-whore”. Feminism is attacking game in all sorts of insidious and aggressive ways, but it might be this that is the most damaging. They’re sending studs to the glue factory.

Meet Hump

My friend Hump started blogging today. He asks some questions about Roissy’s Sixteen Commandments from the perspective of a Christian whose eyes are newly freed of scales.

I really appreciate and learn a lot from these insights. I have questions about some of it though:

II. Make her jealous
Flirt with other women after marriage? And what when my wife flirts with other men? I get to flirt and she doesn’t? A double standard which I don’t bother explaining because that’s the way it works? She gets to flirt and I get to learn how to respond to her flirting?
