Stay at Home Mom Review and Giveaway ends 3-26

Many thanks to the folks at Stay at Home Mom, who recently reviewed Mcneill Designs products (review below). The site is also offering a $75 game giveaway, which ends 3-36-2010. To enter, visit Stay at Home Mom!

“I recently received some games from McNeill Designs. Which I was very excited about reviewing and offering one lucky reader a chance to win a set in a giveaway.

I was excited about this, because my family and I really love to play games. For the past 3 days we have been testing out these games. The games we got are “You’ve been Sentenced,” including 5 add on decks:

  • Reader’s Digest National Word Power Challenge Deck
  • Sports Highlights Deck
  • Sci-fi and Fantasy
  • Pop Culture Deck
  • Gourmet Cuisine Deck

Also included was a fun card game called “Twisted Fish.” and the “Wheel of Chore-ture.”

Information about You’ve been Sentenced:

The latest in the evolution of games, “You’ve been Sentenced!” is the first game in history to really turn making sentences into a very funny, playable, and challenging game. Using a unique word deck of pentagon shaped cards containing conjugations of funny words, famous names from throughout history, familiar places, and wild cards, players have to make grammatically correct and justifiable sentences. The real fun begins when players have to read their sentences out loud and explain what they mean to the rest of players. They form the jury and vote thumbs up or down on whether the sentence and justification stand and the points are scored. 540 cards with over 2,500 words insure billions of possible sentences so the game is never repetitive and has unlimited re-play value.

My take on the games:

We first played “Twisted Fish.” Here’s a picture of my daughter playing it. This is a fun game similar to Go Fish, but with a twist. She wants to play this again soon.

Last night my son, daughter and I all played “You’ve been Sentenced.” Here’s my son getting his cards ready to play:

The kids really enjoyed playing this. And were really getting a kick out of making some very silly sentences. Any game that is fun and includes learning is great in my book. The kids liked it so much, they wanted to play again and weren’t concerned about watching TV, playing video games, or anything else last night.

So to me that says it all!”

Hunch.com's Twitter Predictor Is Unbelievably Accurate!

Today I came across an app on Hunch.com that predicts things about your life by using information gathered from Twitter.  At first I was naturally skeptical.  Basically, the game tells you to put in your Twitter username, and then it asks you a series of questions and predicts what you’re going to say.  I answered 36 questions, and it correctly predicted every single one.  Some of these questions have several answers too.

It was scary accurate.  So scary accurate that I thought it was fake and it just “predicted” whatever answer you put in.  But then I realized that you can “take a peak” at Hunch’s prediction before you answer each question.  I started doing that about 10 questions in, and it continued to correctly predict my responses.

So how does this game work?  Presumably, it scans through your tweets, the people you’re following, your followers, and your profile, and uses that information to predict your answers.  After a while, it will start using your answers to other questions in the game to generate new ones.  It also uses whatever other information Hunch has collected from you over time.

Check out Hunch’s feedback/Q&A page about the Twitter Predictor by clicking here.

5 Great Games to Play to Music

Sometimes the inefficiency of sitting back and solely listening to music can’t be fit into my busy schedule and sometimes I need more than a game to relax and get my fix of entertainment. So I often combine the two, with varying results. Here are the winners.

#5 – Tremulous – Free

Rocking out while playing a first person shooter can often be problematic because of the intensely competitive nature of the genre, but Tremulous is well suited for the job. It doesn’t support voice chat so you don’t have to worry about missing any of the conversation. Also when you’re playing as an alien you will always have a radar, lessening your need to hear the enemy. Because it’s open source and available on Linux it also has a relatively friendly and intelligent community, as far as fps games go.

#4 – Defcon – $10 on Steam

This strategy game revolves around thermonuclear warfare and was inspired by the movie “War Games”. It’s very interesting to play and even manages to get you to think about your ethics for a second when you see hit 8.2 million dead and jump for joy. The game is extremely slow though, with some game modes stretching a match out over an entire day, giving you an excellent opportunity to enjoy some music as you monitor the trajectory of your ICBMs.

#3 – Quake Live – Free

Put simply: Quake 3: Arena but better… and in your browser. Since it’s pretty much mindless killing setting your “Impressive!” killing spree to music can’t hurt.

#2 – Trackmania Nations Forever – Free

If Quake is mindless killing, then Trackmania is mindless restarting because you didn’t hit the apex of that last corner quite as well as you might of. This is the racing game for perfectionists. Playing online remains competitive because there are no collisions and racers compete for the best times recorded within a set limit. Because the game-play itself is extremely repetitive the non driving part of your mind is free to enjoy music. Personally I find this game so mind numbing I’m usually able listen to podcasts while playing.

#1 – Audiosurf – $10 on Steam

The developer of Audiosurf was way ahead of me and has created a fusion of music and game like no other. Courses to race through in your spaceship are generated based on any song in your library (supports flac). The really great thing about this game is that it doesn’t eat up your time, each track is a unique and interesting experience but only lasts as long as one song.

DSI, Avatar and MW2 Pack

Well the kids are off to bed, well in bed and both ‘quietly’ playing their DSI’s so I’ve managed to get down earlier than usual.

Went into town today and treated myself to a new game. Well the game isn’t new (I don’t think) but it was a deal so I thought well it gives me something else to try as well on the xbox, especially as I’ve only played MW2 and Forza. Anyways I bought Avatar. No idea what it’s like and I nearly purchased Battlefield 2 (or something like that) but at £40.00 I thought I’d get something a bit cheaper. It may be crap but I wanted something a little different so I’ll pop it into tonight and see how it goes.

Whilst in town I noticed that Game are making the MW2 expansion pack available to pre-order and they are asking £9.99 for it so whilst it’s only a few quid saving, a few quid for some could make all the difference so thought I’d mention it.

Post-apocalyptic online games

Well, the title says it all. Here’s some links to free online post-apocalyptic games. The games might not have great quality, but hey, it’s free.

Apocalypse Online is a free MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) that, according to the site, takes place on a future Earth that has been ravaged by war. Society itself has been obliterated leaving only a few losely banded organizations attempting to protect themselves from the anarchy that threatens their day to day lives.

Little Red Riding Hood – A Post Apocalyptic Adventure is a spot-the-differences/puzzle game with beautiful art and quite pretty music. No downloads.

Rebuild your base with sustainable energy choices, then survive the hordes
of mutant alien zombies. Be careful – you need energy to survive, but

Is Divorce Sandra Bullock's Next Act?

Was Sandra Bullock blindsided?!? Well, yes, considering she won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the inspirational flick, The Blind Side, but we’re talking about her love life.

Like Kate Winslet earlier this week, it seems that Sandy has been affected by the Oscar curse — a running belief (of many, anyway) that once a woman wins top honors at the Academy Awards, her relationship will soon crumble.

Some of the biggest names in Hollywood are linked to this plague, including Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry.

Bullock is married to motorcycle/car enthusiast, Jesse James. He’s twice married before, but she tied the knot with the TV personality in 2005 and they seemed like a couple deeply in love.

Then came In Touch Weekly’s exposé on James. The tabloid linked Jesse to tattoo model (and rumored stripper) Michelle “Bombshell” McGee. They apparently met through MySpace, were following each other on Twitter and — worst of all — engaged in “relations” while Sandy was filming her tearjerker.

Bullock has since moved out of the home she shares with Jesse and canceled her appearance at an overseas premiere of The Blind Side. Coincidentally or not, James has closed his Twitter account.

Though he hasn’t admitted anything just yet, “sources” close to the pair aren’t denying something went down between Jesse and the tattooed bombshell, who claims to have text messages from James confirming the flirtation and more.

Predicto ponders: with this story — and Sandy’s life — unraveling, will she file for divorce from Jesse? 55% of voting Predicto players say yes!

Wanna know why? Check out these to see just whose side commenters are on!

What do you see for Sandy and Jesse’s future? Stay on the pulse of this and other hot topics by registering to play Predicto! The Cores! The Cores! [Defense Grid: The Awakening]

I feel like I should do a little bit of an introduction. My name’s Michael and I’m doing my level best to pursue Charlie Brooker’s career path like Wylie E. Coyote might pursue some mad-looking but cunning blue bird. I’ll be using this vicious streak to bring you reviews and previews of games on both PS3 and PC. It’s a pleasure to be here and I hope you’ll enjoy reading my stuff; or at the very least I hope I annoy you so much that you leave loads of comments and tell your friends.

The first game I want to look at is something that I came across on Steam recently in their Festive Sale. Games are often so overthought and contrived by their very nature however there are some games from smaller developers that are creating some of the most beautifully simple but addictive games by building upon the Tower Defence genre. Even the charming cartoon-world of Popcap’s ‘Plants Vs. Zombies‘ was a subtle corruption of the genre and the games, which were the mainstay of sites like Miniclip for years, have been coming on in leaps and bounds.

However, one of my personal favourites is Hidden Path’s ‘Defense Grid: The Awakening‘ which is available on Steam for the relatively low price of £6.99 (although it was previously £1.75- but just ignore that). The basic premise of the game is that after a vicious and bloody war, “the aliens” as they’re imaginatively called are obsessed with stealing power cores that your people use to power a smug, RAF-officer-like A.I. computer. The Aliens have given up on actually shooting at you in favour of just blindly running wave after wave of infantry and armour at your defenses in the hope of smashing through long enough to take your power cores back to their base.

As long as you can see your way past the idea that these aliens have no interest in weaponry or direct confrontation with your giant, furious towers- you’ll begin to have a great deal of fun with this game. The strategising element of tower placement had myself and a friend drawing out mazes on old envelopes and really discussing the problem as if we were generals ourselves. For such a simple game it’s a hugely immersive experience but you’ll rarely find yourself wrestling with the moral quandry of blowing away thousands of unarmed aliens. You’re defending the planet, after all!

With plenty of places to plop your strategically placed towers the only concern left are the graphics are a joke then your tower defense game could be blown apart. The graphics in Defense Grid are actually incredibly impressive for a game which is technically lacking in any form of genuine artificial intelligence. At a high setting, zooming in on elements of the map reveal an impressive level of detail and you soon begin to get lost in the massive fire-fights taking place across the map. The learning curve is not particularly steep and the game eases you into the unrelenting slaughter of aliens with a few small-step missions.

As is the case with a lot of these games, the difficulty kicks up about fifty notches very quickly and you’ll no doubt spend a couple of attempts at the later missions tearing your hair out before gluing on a moustache, hiring some WRENs and creating a complicated mapping system in order to solve the problem.

The really amazing thing about Defense Grid is the variety that you feel you’re getting despite the very samey gameplay and charging, despicably thick AI. The aliens will force their way through if you block their path and you’ll find yourself using the plentiful turret placement opportunities to guide them on a merry dance of death- definitely one for the sadists and let’s face it; we’re all a bit sadistic, aren’t we?

Summary: If you fancy something to lose yourself in for a few hours, testing your abilities at strategy and defence then I’m quite sure that you’ll find few better, more addictive or cheaper games which allow you to create so much havok. The storyline is preposterous but fundamentally unimportant as the gameplay more than makes up for it.

Verdict: 8/10

Available for: Windows PC & XBox 360 (Marketplace)

Windows System Requirements: 1.8 GHz Processor, 512 MB RAM, DirectX 9.0c and Shader 2 compatible video card, 1 GB HD space, Windows XP or more recent operating system

game time!

Thanks to Julie Warren for today’s idea of the day!

This  “game”/technique  called “Knowing when NOT to speak” is just so marvelous  especially during the FCAT craze that takes ordinary children and turns them into an entirely different creature…They are crazy about this game and everyone is totally involved , listening is the focus, rhythms are practiced…etc etc…

Just incase you’re unfamiliar or interested…

My procedure has been: (I teach only grades 2 and 3)

1. (FOCUS is on the WORD RHYTHM )- everyone writes it on their dry erase board. and a quick definition (long and short…)

2. class echoes a few silly words  to get their full attention ( “apples and banana’s, “ice-cream sandwiches”  etc)

3. Tchr continues with a neutral syllable (I usually use “BUM”, everyone feel comfortable saying it.) Practice a few patterns as the children echo and the process is comfortable.

4. Then explain about a “SPECIAL MESSAGE” or “SPECIAL PATTERN”–over emphasize “SPECIAL” and at first do a pattern that really sticks out ( I use a 4 beat long syncopated pattern of dotted 8th and 16th) as being VERY different from the others we practiced in a standard beat.

5. Practice the “SPECIAL MESSAGE” so everyone is fully aware of it and can imitate it verbally.

6. NOW THE RULES CHANGE…. ” DO YOU KNOW WHAT NOT TO SAY” …Don’t say the “special Message!” If you repeat the special message …you’re OUT and sit down. The games continues until you have a winner ( or a few) still standing. I reward them and then everyone gets back in the game again.  WOW! Everyone is listening  more closely now! Repeat the game again if desired now that everyone is catching on…

7 THEN I change the “speaking” to playing “rhythm sticks”.. Same game—” I play, they play”…DON’T PLAY THE SPECIAL MESSAGE and it’s even more fun…and easier to find the “goofs”…

Thanks Julie!

I call this game “poison.”  I write a “poisoned” rhythm on the board.  The students are to “be my echo.”  If I clap (or whatever) the poisoned rhythm and they echo it I get a point, if they DON’T echo it they get a point!

Super fun!

Hack Minesweeper :

  • Minimize atau tutup semua program yang aktif
  • Buka dan jalankan minesweeper
  • kemudian langsung ketikan “xyzzy” tanpa tanda kutip.

  • Tiap “kartu hati (as hati s/d king hati)” mempunyai 1 point, dan “kartu Queen skop” mempunyai 13 point

HACK :

  • Menampilkan semua kartu para pemain :
  • Buka run dan jalankan ”regedit”.
  • Kemudian cari dan edit “KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Hearts”.
  • Kemudian buat new string value dengan cara klik kanan lalu pilih “new”.

  • MENGAKTIFKAN GRAFITY WELL
  • MENGGERAKKAN BOLA SESUKA HATI

HACK :

  • MENANG SECARA INSTAN
  • Buka dan jalankan Solitaire
  • Tekan Alt + Shft + 2
  • Menang dengan sekejap

Bad Company 2 Rant

Well, in the last couple of days I bought Bad Company 2. Now when I bought it, I expected a game that would be better than Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2. But after playing the single player campaign of both of them, I was rather disappointed in Bad Company 2’s single player.

My biggest pain is snipers. Now I love to snipe and even more so when they are at a distance and I actually can. Now in all games, you want the fluid movement of any scoped gun. But my .50 cal sniper rifle is another story. I was trying to take 1 guy on a turret and all I got was the metal on either side of his face. Why? My gun had to points on either side of his head. I couldn’t move the sniper right onto his head because of the points that the scope goes to. And if in close quarters, don’t even think about quick scoping. Your screen wobbles too much with the amount of rockets and grenades that the opposing faction tends to use.

Now in the terms of explosives. I survived so many of them I stopped caring. In CoD6, if you didn’t move, you died. In this, I didn’t care. Grenade lands at my feet, meh, I’ll survive. Rockets are pretty much the same except there is a pretty shitty explosion sound. Now granted that I was playing on Easy as I did with CoD6 and this game is easy as anything. Now But then again, the explosive power should really be expected from some crappy paramilitary group.

Ohh yea, that’s right this paramilitary group is hired by a Russian. Still no reason for them to hack. Seriously, they can see me when I can’t see them. They are also very rocket happy. Seriously, too many rockets is a bad thing.

The last thing I have to really complain about is the endgame. Running through an airplane with a shotgun really isn’t giving anyone else a chance. Not to mention that you blow up the entrance to the bad guys hide out and then all jump out of the plane. The end boss fight doesn’t even exist. It’s just jump out of the plane and shoot him twice and he is dead. Come on. Then the final video tells you that you didn’t stop the Russian invasion because they are already in bloody Alaska. Like seriously? Who attacks from Alaska, then you have to deal with Canada and its all to take out the US? Now the end video is where the game really wears out its welcome because you think that your gonna go and attack another few waves of Russians just to finish the game but no. The game just ends leaving it open for a sequel.

Hopefully the sequel or a patch or expansion fixes this crap.

Mortal Kombat - perceptions

Okay…let me get this straight. Mortal Kombat was one of the productions that made me childhood happier. I don’t know the exact number of times that I’ve seen this movie – but for me, it will be one of the best action movies ever. So, this will be my perception on this movie.

Mortal Kombat is the story of a group of people that were chosen in order to represent the earth realm at a tournament. The great Shao Khan will get his hands on this planet if the earthlings lose.

So, we have Liu Kang – an martial artist, Johnny Cage – a movie star and Sonya Blade – a police officer. These three are the only hope that earth has left.

Probably you’ve seen this movie [it's impossible for you not seeing it- even if you live in a cave]. So, what’s so good about it?

- first of all, being a film inspired by a game it is a big deal. Mortal Kombat games were very appreciated when they first came out. From the old Nes games to today’s PS3 and Xbox editions – Mortal Kombat games are great and it’s a pleasure to deal with them.

- speaking of film-making techniques, this movie shows the usual stuff – no incredible visual effects or camera tricks. But I loved this example of really cool effect called the dolly zoom. I think I saw this twice in the movie. The dolly zoom consists in zooming in while the camera moves away from the subjects. It’ s incredible how this thing works. Your perception of that scene seems to be a bit unclear but in fact there’s no change in the quality of the image. If the camera is centered on a character the surroundings become plasma-like, they aquafy a little bit.

In romanian this is called trans-traveling. It’s all about the background which becomes unreal, fictional. So, this technique was welcomed in such kind of movie as this one. I will post some other material describing this technique – when the right time comes :P

- the fighting parts. Everybody loves fights and battles. MK has a lot of them.

When speaking of a favourite character – in my case – it gets down to Scorpion.

Even when I choose to play some MK4 or Trilogy, this is the one I fight with.

Scorpion is one of the evil’s side fighters. I always thought that Sub-Zero was more innocent than this one. Scorpion really enjoys killing his enemies and as we can see in the first MK movie – he will try anything to win.

Another reason of me liking this movie are the costumes and the make-up. Preparing the image of the characters is as hard as any other part in the creation of a movie. That’s why you can get an Oscar for it.

Most of the people like to criticize movies that are inspired by videogames. For example the discussions that occurred because of Uwe Boll’s creations. As you might know, his work, his movies are inspired by some popular videogames. They aren’t the best movies ever – but they don’t really suck. I enjoyed House of the dead and Postal. But in order to gain experience and become a good entertainer – you have to start small and if you get a chance to develop an idea already existing into something that you would want to watch.

Okay, let’s get back to this movie. MK won the prize for the Best Music in a motion picture. C’mon, don’t tell me you didn’t do crazy stuff by listening MK theme?? I remember that like 5 or 6 years ago I nearly broke my leg trying to fight an imaginary opponent while listening that song.

MK brings out good memories – that’s why I love the film.

PlayStation Move

PlayStation Move, the answer from Sony for the Motion Controller is finally offcially announced at the GDC 2010. Previously the Motion Controller is named as Gem, and later Arc now the official name is Move.

PlayStation Move is going to sells in three way, bundle with PS3, standalone or the starter kit that included the PlayStation Eye, a game and the controller which cost at under $100. The price is not yet official announce by Sony yet. Since it said under $100, I assume it will be $99.

Yakuza 3 cover - thoughts

Anyone who is slightly interested in the third installment of the Yakuza series, Yakuza 3, which is released today in NA and due for release on the 12th in the EU region will have noticed the different (and in my opinion, horrible) cover given for the EU/NA release. Perhaps this is because of SEGA’s desire to appeal to Western market (really don’t see how it does), or maybe its because Europe’s strong anti-smoking stance, where even a virtual character smoking a cigarette casually on a cover of an 18-rated game is enough to cause a national outbreak? Who knows, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the reason though.

Finished Cave Story

I finally finished Cave Story, the final stage took me so long, it’s three boss battles one after the other with no saving! Plus the second boss reincarnates, and the third boss is pretty much three in one. You feel quite skillful when you beat all six of them in one life.

If you haven’t heard of Cave Story it’s really quite good, just make sure you download the English patch.

Infamous [PS3]

So I’ve finally managed to try out Infamous on the PS3, and I like the ending. It’s another sandbox game and it came out roughly around the same time as Prototype on the Xbox 360. Now I’ve played both and it seems that to me Infamous is a child-friendly, ball-and-chained game compared to what it could’ve been. I mean the main guy Cole, he suddenly gets superpowers (ie electricity) and he goes around shooting off these blasts from his hands at the bad guys trying to gun him down, but there’s no blood! there’s no violence in this game which would make you think about picking it up after finishing the story and you fancied frying some pixels.

Now the game itself, although being a sandbox game, felt very linear. It was all “Go here, listen to the brief and kill some crazies and/or other people with powers like you”. The side missions which I didn’t do too many were didn’t really add much to the game, the whole being good or bad thing didn’t seem to have a great impact on how you played the game I played as mostly good (picked a few bad choices just because I was getting annoyed at some sequences) and near the end of the game everyone has turned on you anyway. I really enjoyed the ending of this game, not because I was glad to see it finally finish (I really found the missions dragging), but it comes with a twist you could’ve see coming from some distance away, it does leave you intrigued as the final cutscene talks about the main bad guy’s (Kessler) nemesis. Which leaves this game open for a sequel. Another thing I enjoyed were the (although few) cutscenes for major story points which were done in a comic-book fashion, this I guess could lead to spin-offs of comics and books for this game if the guys at Sucker Punch ever wanted to make some more money out of this game.

Apart from needing to play it a few times to get all the trophies, I really don’t see the replay value of this game. If you enjoy sandbox games but want guts and blood I recommend Prototype which is available on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3

Now to wait for Final Fantasy XIII, once I get Heavy Rain back I’ll post what I think about the game which could save the PS3

Friday is WHEN LIFE JUST PLAIN RULEZ!

Yeah, I was going to go a little more poetic with the title of this entry, but this one would summarize how I feel about Fridays better than anything poetic. :)

In drama class yesterday we played this game called “Emperor”. Everyone in the class sits in a circle. One person sits on a ‘throne’ (it’s a VERY strong cardboard box poorly painted in a lovely midnight sort of colour which would match the paint on the walls of the drama room if it was less gray and less streaky) and is the ‘emperor’. Everyone else in the circle are numbered subjects. (Subject #1 on the right of the emperor, all the way around the circle until Subject #15 on the left of the emperor.) No one is allowed to laugh. If the emperor laughs, they go back to the start and become Subject #1 and the previous Subject #1 becomes Subject #2 and so on. Previous Subject #15 becomes the new emperor.
All the subjects cannot move unless the emperor tells them to, or they put up their hand to either compliment the emperor or tattle on someone for laughing. They cannot speak unless the emperor says “Yes, Subject #_, you may speak.” The emperor is not allowed to address someone with anything other than their subject number.
If the emperor catches someone laughing or speaking or moving without the emperor’s consent, then the emperor can tell them to do anything they want. (The teacher demonstrated by making one girl run around the outside of the circle calling out, “I’m a pretty pink pony!” over and over, while making another person do the dance to “I’m a little teapot.”)

When my class played it, it was EASY-PEASY to become the emperor, (I started out as like, Subject #7 or something) since everyone in my class burst out giggling the second they sat on the ‘throne’. No kidding. One person maybe lasted a full 5 seconds.
When I got to become emperor, I knew I was going to be PRO at it. You see, I have really deep and serious thoughts despite being a 15-year-old girl who has a pretty good sense of humour, if-I-do-say-so-myself. :) So all I did was think about infinity, the meaning of life, what might lie at the ends of the universe. PLUS I can be a loner at school a lot so boredom sometimes takes over and I find myself eavesdropping. And if someone says something funny, I have practice holding it in. And when I was in elementary school, people made fun of my awesome laugh. (They, unfortunately, did not see how truly awesome it was, until like eighth grade and they started laughing harder and saying, “Alex, I love your laugh!” And it made me happy to make people laugh. Not that I was ever offended by their jokes to my laughter since third grade when this b** of a “friend” told me I laugh too much.)
ANYWAY, my point is I have lots of practice keeping a straight face when I need to, but I still would rather share my laughter. :P

So when I was emperor that’s just what I did. People started putting their hands up. “You look absolutely GORGEOUS today,”; “I LOVE your scarf,” in the silliest voices. I only replied, “Thank you.” Everyone kept giggling; but I only addressed people like Subject #1 and Subject #2 because I didn’t feel like counting all the people up to #7 and beyond.

Me/Alex: Subject #1, you are laughing! Stand up, do the macarena!
Subject #1: Are you serious?
Me: Yes, I am one-hundred percent serious.
Subject #1: But I don’t even know the macarena!
Me: Stand up!
Subject #1: [stands up] Are you serious?
Me: Yeah, I’m serious!
Subject #1: But I can’t do the macarena! I don’t know how!
Me: It goes like this. [straight face, does the macarena's hand motions, jumps to face Subject #1] Hey, macarena!
Everyone in the class minus, like, three people: [giggle, giggle]
Subject #1: Are you serious?
Me: Damn right, I’m serious!!! And you’re talking without my permission, Subject #1, so I’m going to make you do the ‘I’m a little teapot’ song instead.
Subject #1: [Still does not do either dance, still asking if I'm serious non-stop.]
Me: Subject #2, show Subject #1 how to do the dance.
Subject #2: [gives me a 'look'- does not stand up to show Subject #1 how to do the dance]
Subject #15: [giggle, giggle]
Me: [turns to Subject #15], Subject #16, switch places with Subject #1.
Subject #14: [switches places with Subject #1]
Me: [confused, but decides not to say anything.]
Subject #7: *raises hand*
Me: Yes, Subject #… [counts and re-counts to find out what number Subject #7 is] 7, you may speak.
Subject #7: There is no Subject #16.
Me: [my oopsie-poopsy face: eyes wide, staring out window, lips puckered- sits to take the postition of Subject #1]
Subject #1: [to me] You’re really good at this game.
Mrs U (teacher): Okay, that’s enough.

-and we have finished the game-

It was so much fun. I’m better at this game than any of the other concentration ones.

Another good thing about my life lately is that I got elected as Student of the Month at my school along with the rest of the Students’ Council. (Out of about 700-900 students, something like 20 get to be Student of the Month each month.) Today everyone who was Student of the Month got to have a free pizza party (with those ADORKABLE mini-pepsi things) in the guidance office. About 18 people showed up, and what’s even better is that one of my best friends Smiley got elected as Student of the Month the same month as me, so I wasn’t at the pizza party alone. I got my photograph with the Students’ Council and also some guy who has a big title and works at the School Board office or something. (“Board of Trustees” is what I heard.) AND the pizza was AWESOMAZING.

In a couple of weeks (maybe next?) I’m going on an art field trip to visit an artist the next city over. It rules, we get the afternoon off. And on the first Friday in May, we get an art field trip to Toronto for some grand opening of a gallery or exhibition or something.

So long story short since my mother’s kicking me off the computer,

LIFE IS AWESOMAZING. :D

At the epitome of happiness,

Alex Violet. :)

PS Did I tell you I’m going out West again this summer?! :D:D:D
