Scribblenauts for DS - do anything!

Scribblenauts is a new game for the Nintendo DS. It’s essentially your standard platformer, with one very cool twist – you can type in or draw anything you can think of, and it’ll create a usable item to aid you in your quest:

Type in “pirate” to fight a ninja. Type in “bridge” to cross an expanse, or type in “motorcycle” and “ramp” and jump it. You gain currency by using fewer items, and also by using creative solutions, and you use that currency to unlock new worlds.

I’d be very interested to see more about the development process behind this. Does the game only know predefined terms, or can it figure out what you mean if you make something up? How does it compute the physics for every item? Etc.

Overall, it sounds like a very cool concept. I’d love to try it out.
